Sneffels Knit-A-Long with Ford Explorer Knits

I'm very excited to share that, starting on Monday, my friend Ali from Ford Explorer Knits and I are co-hosting my very first KAL! Together, we will be leading the charge on knitting the fun, beginner-friendly pattern, the Sneffels Triangle Scarf. To learn more, read some of Ali's post on Instagram and explore our hashtag, #SneffelsKAL.

Ali recently took up hand dyeing yarn, and she reached out to me a few weeks ago about creating a set of kits for my Sneffels pattern. Of course I said yes – and thank goodness, because the two color combinations Ali came up with for the kits are both so beautiful. For the KAL, Ali will be knitting with the Before the Storm combo, and I will be knitting with the Neapolitan combo. Look at these beautiful colors!

Several folks were able to snag these kits from Ali when they were listed, but if you're interested in joining us and missed out on the kits, never fear! Three skeins of fingering weight yarn should work perfectly for this project (though you may want to grab an extra hank of the main color, especially if you're prone to loose knitting). Grab some yarn from your stash and join us!

Thoughtful human that she is, Ali will be sending out emails to anyone interested giving little updates on the KAL. So if you want to get updates on when we plan to reach different points in the pattern, be sure to contact Ali to get on her list! (Newsletter subscribers, you'll be getting little KAL round-ups too, though not quite as detailed. So anyone interested in following along, be sure to subscribe to my newsletter if you haven't already!) But if you're not a huge fan of structure, no worries – feel free to follow along with the KAL at your own pace!

Just to have everything in one place, we thought it might be nice to have a blog post with a rough schedule for our KAL. Keep in mind that this is totally a gentle thing – work at your own pace (grad student here, you know I won't be rushing ya). But for those of you who enjoy structure, here's a little schedule to keep you in line.

Schedule

Start date:  March 19, 2018

Finish section 7 (start the stripes of section 8):  March 28, 2018

Start section 10 (once you're done with the seed stitch section):  April 2, 2018

End date:  April 9, 2018

Prizes

And now for the most exciting part... Prizes! As a thank you to all who are joining in this KAL, everyone who tags their progress shots with the hashtag #SneffelsKAL will be entered to win a little prize from me and Ali! The prize will include a couple of pins from me, plus a cozy mug from Ali. We're having so much fun with this little project, and we are so excited about the folks joining us that we want to thank you all with a gift!

Each photo on Instagram using the hashtag #SneffelsKAL between March 19 and April 9 will be entered to win (so more photos = more entries), and we will randomly pick a winner by midnight April 11. Photos must be on a public account for us to see them, and the photos must obviously be of your Sneffels pattern (so don't just stick the tag onto random pics, of course). That's all it takes! Good luck, everyone! So excited to knit with you guys!
